Fighting in the heat of a serious battle is not easy in any sense. While many military personnel and veterans may seem anxious at times, research supports a relationship between depression and increased traumatic experiences.
Depression is a serious condition characterized by persistent and intense feelings of sadness for extended periods.
Depressed soldiers have scars that are internal and, sometimes, these internal scars are even worse than physical scars and can lead to major depressive disorders. Major depression (MD) is generally recognized to be among the most burdensome of all disorders in the U.S. population due to its high prevalence and strong adverse effects on role functioning. However, many do not see it as such.
Many still do not comprehend that depression is an illness and not just a sadness. Many of them may not know about how you can’t sleep at night, or how you can’t concentrate or even function with normal day to day activities. They also may not know that depression can also cause physical stress and challenges as well. When someone suffers this much, they may take matters into their own hands that could lead to suicide.
An article written by former military personnel shows how major depression swallowed her whole life in darkness How she conquered it and finally started to get her life back on track, little by little, is a proof that there is hope.
Depression may affect each us differently. Depression changes the way we think, feel and deal with tough times. It is important to recognize that depression does not need to be your final destination and that there is always a path for you to find your own way to a better place.
